Welcome to the funny farm! (jokes)
We love to welcome visitors to meet our animals (and birds!) and find out more about our way of life. Farmer Ben's dream when we moved to the farm was to share his unique upbringing with others (or "city folk" as he calls them!).
It's a busy, fulfilling life on a farm. Come on in, we'd love to show you around...
Our hens really are the luckiest in the world.
They live in an amazing barn filled with toys and lots of safe places to rest and eat, and they can also go out to sunbathe whenever they like.
Hens love routine. They are fed at regular times and all rush into the barn ahead of time to get the best spot by the feed tracks. They also have their laying time-slot in the morning, and each hen lays in the same place every day!
Every morning, Farmer Ben and his helpers collect their eggs from a conveyor belt and bring them up to the shop to sell. Farmer Ben also walks around the hens three times a day to check they are feeling sprightly.
We also have a small gang of friendly lambs, who follow Farmer Ben everywhere - they think he's their mum!
We have some new babies arriving in February Half Term too for you to bottle feed!
They came from our sister farm near Helmsley where Farmer Ben grew up and where his family still farm. They were orphan lambs, but now they have a very happy life with us -- and they've been bottle fed by our customers so they've grown big and strong.
They are very friendly and would love to say hello when you visit. Every Easter we have lamb feeding so look out our that on our social media!
We lavish our veggies with tender loving care.
The vegetable garden keeps us very busy. Farmer Ben hoes, sows and weeds regularly to make sure it's looking its best.
We believe that the freshest veg is better for you: as soon as you cut it, produce starts to lose its nutrient value. Our specialties are purple sprouting broccoli, 3 varieties of kale and our famous non-stringy runner beans. People drive from all over the country to get them fresh.
Everything is labelled and we love to show customers around - just ask in the shop if you'd like a tour.
